Mission Statement: Rescue. Educate. Re-home. San Diego Farm Animal Rescue is committed to giving homes to animals in jeopardy, educating the public through hands-on experiences, and finding forever homes for the animals.
We create new lives for farm animals in need of rescue. We believe the connection between animals and humans reveals the true nature of both, and the distinctions among species are blurred as humans discover their capacity for compassion. Everyday, our intention is to rescue, educate, and advocate for the ethical and compassionate treatment of all animals.
SDFAR maintains the privacy of those who need help caring for animals in order to best facilitate the free-flow of safe rescues. We educate the public about why certain animals need rescuing, but we strive to maintain a positive and cohesive message about solutions for animal care.
John is a San Diego native who founded SDFAR at Rancho Cherimoya, a 2.5 acre ranchita in Elfin Forest, CA. Rancho Cherimoya is home to 120 organic cherimoya trees (all cherimoya sales go to SDFAR). Monday through Friday, John is an environmental lawyer who holds polluters accountable under the law.
Courtney has been an animal lover her whole life. From the smallest of critters to gigantic animals, she has a soft spot in her heart for them all. Born and raised in New Hampshire, she has been riding horses since age 9 and enjoyed competitive barrel racing during her teenage years. Courtney is available to give tours of the farm by appointment. Contact us!
Matt is a dedicated volunteer at SDFAR who helps with cleaning, feeding and spending time with the animals. He studies Anthrozoology (so cool) and hosts a YouTube channel called Vegan Talk. Check it out!
